We have decks!

The decks came in from the printers today, and they look great! It's kind of a shock to actually hold the real thing in my hand. It's been so much work, not just from me, but from Scotto and Karen too, and yet somehow it just doesn't seem real.

The one fly in the ointment is the tuckboxes. They didn't turn out as nicely as the cards. We're still discussing our options on that, but we don't know if we'll have boxes by GenCon, and we can't really sell the cards without the boxes.

Karen and I continue to work frantically on laying out the manual. It's coming together nicely, but it's hard not to keep tweaking things at the last minute, and there are always problems you don't see until the last minute (or until your wife kindly points them out). There are more examples to be put together, and a manual cover to be created, and page numbers to be referenced, but when we're done it's going to look great.

And now, having finished my break this evening (in which I finally finished reading the Harry Potter saga) I'm going to bed. I'll be back to more work on the manual in the morning!

That's too bad about the tuckboxes, but I think a little fly in the ointment is to be expected, from what I've heard from indie game designers. What is so different about the way the boxes were printed? Are you sure you're not being too hard on yourselves? The stuff I've seen so far with the cards looks great!

Either way, congratulations on such great work. Just remember, the manual doesn't have to be "perfect"; it's more important that it's "done". (And because it is being published as a PDF, we can update it later to make it "better".)
